The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a lineage-based membership organization for women who are directly descended from a person involved in the United States' efforts towards independence.
Membership in the DAR is open to any woman over the age of 18 who can prove her descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, which includes a range of roles such as soldiers, civil servants, and those who provided material support to the cause.
Do you think you might have a descendent who was a patriot? The Delaware County Chapter of DAR would be happy to talk with your about how to research and document your lineage!
Eligibility for Membership
Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence is eligible to join the DAR. She will be asked to provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage and death, as well as of the Revolutionary War service of her Patriot ancestor.
